Our Story
Maximalist. Personal. Timeless.
Lila Rasa creates artisan-made pieces that celebrate character, heritage, and the beauty of homes that are truly lived in.
Our Story
The most extraordinary handcrafted objects in the world are rarely found in the places you expect.
They are in the workshops of master craftspeople in Moradabad, Jaipur and Varanasi. In the brocante markets of southern France. In the devotional craft traditions of Latin America and the artisan studios of Spain and Italy.
Lila Rasa exists to bring them here.
Founder Story
Vipul and Shivali founded Lila Rasa in London from the intersection of two lifetimes spent paying close attention to how beautiful things are made.
- Vipul brings over twenty years of brand development, experiential marketing and product design expertise.
- Shivali is an event designer and Indian culinary expert.
Together, they carry the knowledge of a family metal handicraft business — a maker’s understanding of materials, technique and the economics of craft that shapes every sourcing decision.
They travelled India with that knowledge as a guide:
- the metalwork clusters of Moradabad
- the textile traditions of Varanasi
- the inlay artisans of Agra
- the wood carvers of Saharanpur
Master craftspeople whose families have practised the same techniques for generations. And they saw, clearly, a gap: extraordinary skill in the service of undifferentiated products, at prices that did not reflect the knowledge behind them.
Then Europe — the brocante and flea markets of France, the artisan traditions of Italy and Spain. Objects with deep cultural identity: Ex-Voto sacred hearts, devotional mirror-work, antique-style ornamental craft.
And the founding insight: that these two worlds — India’s master craftspeople and the world’s great decorative object traditions — belonged in conversation with each other.
Every piece is sourced directly from makers. No intermediaries. No compromises. Every object chosen because it carries genuine cultural depth and irreplaceable craft skill.
Brand Pillars: Our Promise
Lila Rasa is built on four core brand pillars that define everything we do.
1. Indian Craft Mastery
Direct from India’s master craftspeople — metalwork, wood, resin, inlay, glass, textile.
Knowledge built across generations and across the country’s great handicraft clusters.
2. Global Cultural Depth
Objects drawn from Latin American Ex-Voto tradition, French brocante craft, Moorish mirror-work, and Iberian artisan culture — world traditions brought to British homes.
3. Ethical at Every Step
No intermediaries. Fair value for craftspeople and customers.
Nature and people at the core — represented by the five elements of our logo:
- Sun
- Water
- Earth
- Air
- Hands joined
We uphold ethical fair trade practices in every part of our business.
4. Expert Curation
Twenty years of brand and product development expertise + event design mastery + a family heritage in metal handicraft.
Every piece chosen because it means something.
